ARtist Bio
Ashley Sellner is a multimedia artist and photographer based in Charlotte, NC whose practice explores themes of nostalgia and the unconscious habit of gathering. For the past decade, Ashley has examined the intersection of memory and place through her large landscapes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In recent years, as an unofficial archivist of her family’s history, Ashley has ascribed new meaning to inherited collections of canceled stamps, photos, letters, and books. Combining printmaking, collage, and mark making, Ashley’s intimate studies on paper compel the viewer to meditate on their own connections to what is left behind.
Ashley’s work has been featured in exhibitions at Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta, in private collections nationally, and public gathering spaces across the Southeast. Her most recent installation at 300 West Summit is a 6 canvas "mural" featuring views of the uptown skyline as observed from the building’s rooftop terrace. Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Religion from Wake Forest University.
